Introduce yourself! 🗣

hi!! my name is carolyn do and i graduated with a bachelors in computer science. i‘ve been involved in wics since my freshmen year as a mentee within the mentorship program but on eboard i was the 2024-2025 hopperhacks director!


What advice would you give to other women who are interested in pursuing a career in computer science or related fields?👩‍💻

there’s so many people out there that are faking it until they make it and you can too. i used to think that i was falling so behind because everyone seemed to know everything but they‘re also still learning! also don’t cut yourself short! go apply for that opportunity even if you think you‘ll be rejected! and organizations like rewriting the code helped me land my first internship because they have exclusive partnerships with companies for internships!


What are your plans for the future after Stony Brook? 🎓

i’ll start my full time job as a software engineer!


If you could give some advice to your younger self, what would it be? 💌

to learn cs straight out of the womb 😂😂😂😂 but honestly to not overthink about how everyone else is progressing. it‘s okay to be moving at my own pace because some progress is still progress! and that anything is genuinely possible if you put your mind and time into it
