Tina Wong
Event Committee Member / Previous WiCS President
I'm Tina, and I graduated with a major in Computer Science and a minor in History ๐. I was a part of Stony Brook Universityโs Honors College and Undergraduate Computer Science Honors Program. Since my freshman year, I have been involved in WiCS, first as an Event Committee Member, then as Vice President, as President, and finally returning as an Event Committee Member in my senior year. It has been so rewarding being a part of the community and watching the club grow! In my free time, you can find me exploring new museums and volunteering at an animal ๐ shelter.
How have you been involved with WiCS ๐ป? How has it impacted you?
WiCS advertised its first GBM in my CSE 150 class, so I attended the first GBM in my freshman year. I began attending more events because everyone was so friendly, and I soon joined e-board as a Freshman Event Committee Member. I then became Vice President in my sophomore year, President in my junior year, and returned as an Event Committee Member in my senior year. It has been a joy getting to meet other women in tech and connect with software engineers in industry. I never thought I could hold any leadership position before I joined WiCS e-board, and in the past few years, I have learned so much about leadership, public speaking, and event planning.
What are your plans after graduation ๐ฉโ๐ ?
I will be working as a Technology Analyst at Morgan Stanley.
A major congratulations to Tina for graduating ๐ and thank you for being an amazing member of the WiCS community after all these years ๐ค๐ค!!!

George Liang
Event Committee Member
Hi everyone! My name is George and I studied Computer Science and AMS ๐งฎ. I served as one of your Event Committee Members for the past school year.
How have you been involved with WiCS ๐ป? How has it impacted you?
Running and organizing some events for WiCS helped me become more confident taking on a leadership role. Aside from that, I was a mentor for our mentoring program which gave me the opportunity to assist others who needed help navigating their college careers as a CS major. Having attended all our events, I was able to meet a lot of people ๐ง๐ปโ๐ซ and it made me feel like I was in a community that I wanted to give back to.
What led you to pursue a career in computer science ๐ป, and how did you first become interested in the field?
I was always interested in STEM ๐งช fields. At first, I had trouble deciding what I wanted to do as I considered studying biology, math, or physics๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ. Eventually, I decided to pursue a career in computer science after I was exposed to programming in high school. This was also partially motivated by my passion for gaming ๐ฎ at the time because I wanted to figure out how games I played were made. I was also fascinated by computer science's application in robotics ๐ค which allowed me to see how I can bridge the gap between the digital and physical world.
What are your plans after graduation ๐ฉโ๐ ?
I plan to work as a full-time Software Engineer!
A major congratulations to George for graduating ๐ and thank you for being an amazing member of the WiCS community after all these years ๐ค๐ค!!!
Jun Ho Lee
Previous Event Committee Member
I am a Graduated CSE Major and a former CSE 101 & 114 TA.
What is your best memory of WiCS ๐ป?
Participating in Roth Regatta ๐ฃโโ๏ธ in 2022. I had fun in making the parts and assembling them together. In the end, it was nice to see it float across the Roth Pond โต๏ธ. During that time, I also participated in an unofficial whiteboard doodle which turned out to be a masterpiece.
If you could give some advice to your younger self ๐ฆ๐ป, what would it be?
Find out what you're interested in early on! If you can't find what you want easily, you can do what I did - find what I am not interested in. Doing this narrows your choices and you'll eventually find what you want. (And a little bit of rest always helps)
A major congratulations to Jun Ho for graduating ๐ and thank you for being an amazing member of the WiCS community after all these years ๐ค๐ค!!!
Taylor Ngo
Honorable WiCSter
What's going on WICS family, I'm Taylor Ngo, a graduate of Stony Brook University with a bachelor's in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. During my time at Stony Brook, I served as an honorary WICSter and dedicated my efforts to help support the wonderful WICS organization because, like many others, I love women in computer science. Currently, I am looking to pursue my passion for teaching and helping those learn about Computer Science as an instructor for an education program run by the City University of New York. During my free time, I enjoy powerlifting ๐๐ป, playing chess โ๏ธ , and playing video games ๐ฎ .
How have you been involved with WiCS ๐ป? How has it impacted you?
I joined WICS back in the Fall ๐ of 2021 and became an active member ever since. As a matter of fact, I hold the highest WICS attendance from the Fall 2022 semester to the Spring 2023 semester. I treat WICS as my family at Stony Brook, a loving and supporting organization that helps everyone succeed while having fun at the same time. I have had the honor of assisting WICS in multiple ways, whether it be as mundane as helping set up for events, or connecting with the eboard members and helping them with their own tasks. They have provided me with amazing experiences through their wonderful events and have made my college experience a memorable and enjoyable one. I will always be forever grateful to WICS and the support they have given me.
What are your plans after graduation ๐ฉโ๐ ?
Personally, I am still deciding on what I want to pursue after college. I originally went in with the idea that I wanted a job in tech. However, I found a new passion for teaching ๐ง๐ปโ๐ซ and spreading knowledge to people. It's simple if I love it, then I stay, else, then I check out what working in tech is like. That's the beauty of trying new things, you can see what you like and what you don't.
A major congratulations to Taylor for graduating ๐ and thank you for being an amazing member of the WiCS community after all these years ๐ค๐ค!!!
