No Eating/Drinking/Smoking is allowed in any of the Transaction Labs.

Student accounts are created for the sole purpose of allowing students to
complete their studies in the
Computer Science
department. Accounts are created from the official course rosters only.

Accounts are terminated within 60 days of the graduation of a student or,
in the case of a class account, at the end of the semester. The accounts,
systems and data are the property of Computer Science
department and you are allowed use of the systems for the purpose of your
studies only. As a rule we do the most possible to avoid
compromising users' privacy but we do NOT guarantee privacy
of any data or activities on our systems.

Students are assigned a fixed quota and are responsible to manage their
own space.

Student accounts are assigned to one user who is fully responsible
for the activities of that account. You are NOT to share your account or
password with ANYONE. Your account will be disabled if this activity is
detected.

We do attempt to crack your password during the year and if we are able to
do so, the account will be disabled and you will have to present yourself
(with id and in person) to get the account reactivated. We do not
conduct account reactivation over the phone or via email.

Your student account is not intended to be used to break into
other accounts, our systems or other systems on the internet.
Activity which denies services to our systems or other
systems on the internet are not allowed, this includes disconnecting
the power from one of the Translab PCs. Your account will be disabled
if such activity is detected. You are not allowed,
by default, to view/edit/delete/modify/copy/move/rename other
users files without their permission, or attempt to crack or
capture other users accounts or passwords by any means.
Promiscuous file permissions do not imply tacit permission to
view/edit/delete/modify/copy/move/rename other users files.

You are not allowed to connect your own PCs to the Translab network,
to disconnect the monitor from a PC in the lab to connect it to your
own machine, or to disconnect the power from a PC in the lab to connect
your own equipment. Your account will be disabled

Your account is not to be used to harass other users, persons, groups,
or organizations on the internet. Improper use of your account will result
in the loss of the account and possible notification to authorities.

All course TAs are provided access to the TA account for the course(s) they are
involved with. All TA accounts are restricted to the machines in room 2110,
the room where they should be holding office hours. Course TAs are PROHIBITED
from using student course accounts for their personal use.

No changes will be made to server software configurations during the course
of the semester.
