Text doesn't have to be set in straight lines. In the example below (the logo for Stony Brook's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching) a spiral path was used.
In this example a text string (including symbol fonts) was attached to a circular
path. By copying the text to multiple frames, and by increasing the text offset
in each successive frame, the logo was animated.
In the example below the logo for the Kermit95 communications software was developed as a 2D graphic for use on stationery, and then extruded into a 3D graphic for use in packaging, etc.
Text and vector graphics make excellent malleable masks. Effects like the drop shadow below can be automatically rendered.
In the example below, this graphic for the Pine Email tutorial can be iterated indefinitely.
