As discussed in class, I've provided a template for your final term project proposals at:
http://www3.cs.stonybrook.edu/~tony/intromm/334project.htm

Please prepare at least 2 draft proposals for the project you would like to build this term. One should be a "safe" topic (scientific visualization, tech tear down, architectural fly-through, and so on), and one can be a more "creative" topic (original character, story based on Aesops Fable or Fairy Tale, etc). The format should follow this for each topic:

Title
Brief Synopsis
Target Audience (age, other demographic info)
References (in particular blueprints or elevations)

Include your response in the body of the email to intromm@cs.stonybrook.edu, with "Draft Proposals" in the subject line. I will then provide comments to you so you can submit a full proposal. I would prefer that the draft ideas be in the body of the email message as opposed to attachments (like MS Word documents). As discussed in class, there are several things you should avoid proposing:

1) Using a licensed character (like Homer Simpson, Bender the robot, etc).
2) Complex ideas that involve multiple characters and scenes, and dialogue.
3) Ideas that do not lend themselves readily to visual depiction (emotions, metaphysical subjects).
4) Original narratives that really require a professional writer.

What you should focus on are ideas in which 3D animation, graphics, and audio can all be effectively used to tell the story. Many students will come up with an idea that would simply be more easily done if shot with a video camera, but that's not what this class is about. In general, technology subjects (like robots, space ships, etc) are easier to model than organic characters (realistic humans or animals).

The best way to go is to tell a straightforward story, sort of like a mini-documentary about a vehicle, a building, or some other technology. Another possibility is a fable or fairytale. You must consider the target audience, particularly their age, that suggests how you will treat the material (is it more Discovery Channel or Cartoon Network?)

So please provide a synopsis your ideas for the project, and who the intended audience is. One idea should be a "safe" subject, the other can be more creative. Again, this is not the full proposal.
