Lynda.com

Lynda.com is an excellent resource of video tutorials for everything from Python to Photoshop. Unfortunately the SBU subscription for students has gone away. But you can access Lynda through the NY Public Library, and some local libraries, for free.

If you have, or can get, a library card from the local libraries listed below, you can access Lynda.com. The advantage to this is that you can get your card right away.

The NYPL has an app called SimplyE available for download at https://www.nypl.org/books-music-movies/ebookcentral/simplye/getting-started.

Once installed you click on "Find your library" and select The New York Public Library. Then select the settings button in the bottom right corner and then go to accounts. Then select "The New York Public Library" and press Sign Up next to "Don't have a library card?" Then proceed with the following steps and prompts.

After inputting all of your account information and email it takes about 12 hours for the NYPL to send your SimplyE library card number. Then use the NYPL link (https://www.nypl.org/collections/articles-databases/lyndacom) and input the library card number as well as the pin number you created when you set up your account on the SimplyE app.

Now you can access the tutorials on Lynda.com.
