Audio

Upload the rendered .mp3 file to your project documentation on SB You, and confirm the update by emailing the URL to intromm@cs.stonybrook.edu with “Audio” in the subject line.

The audio track should be 30 seconds long, and could include narration, sound effects, and music to support your final project. Make sure your audio recordings are clean (no noise) and that any narration is clearly audible above other tracks like music or sound effects. It's typically a good idea to fade up the audio track at the beginning and fade it down at the end. Other than for dramatic effect (like a startling noise) you should avoid abrupt, jarring transitions from one track to another. Also avoid "dead air space". Edit your audio to have overlapping tracks providing layers and texture to the narrative. You should consider how the audio file supports your storyboard, and how it contributes to the mood of your story. Think about the “story arc” that your audio track reveals. The multiple audio tracks should be rendered to a stereo .mp3 file.

Rubric:

1. Followed the instructions:
• A multitrack audio mp3 file, approximately 30 seconds long, was uploaded to the student’s project documentation web site, and the URL was sent to course email.

2. Met the design criteria:
• Track combines multiple audio sources, such as music, sound effects, or narration.
• Audio is “clean” (no static, unless for effect).
• Track amplitude levels are appropriate (narration is clearly audible, no track is too loud or soft).
• Track does not start or end abruptly.
• Transitions from one audio track to another are smooth (unless for effect).
• No dead air space (unless for effect).
• Supports the narrative of the storyboard, and contributes to the mood or ambiance of the story.
• Appropriate for target audience.
• Good overall technical execution (sounds are clear and crisp, trimmed appropriately, etc)

That’s 10 criteria, or approximately 1 point each. (10 points total)
