Tan N. Le is pursuing his Ph.D. degree in State University of New York at Korea. He received the B.E. in Information Technology from Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2008. In 2011, he got his M.S. degree in Information and Telecommunication at Soongsil University, Seoul, Korea.

His current research interests include Smart Grid Communications and Networking.

Smart Grid Communications and Networking

Energy efficiency is increasingly gaining importance due to environmental awareness and the pressure to reduce operation costs. It has become one of the key requirements for our lives and will no doubt change the ways we design and operate future societies. In the past decades, there have been many efforts by both governments and organizations to improve the efficiency of the electric power grid system. Within past few years, smart grid technologies, using wireless metering infrastructures, have provided the grid operators and consumers with more information about the electric power grid. Although, considerable research progress has been made in the smart grid technologies, many problems still remain to realize a true smart grid. In particular, wireless communication is a promising means to facilitate pervasive microgrid monitoring and control at a high flexibility and low deployment cost. However, supporting wireless communication over smart grid poses significant challenges since the research requires understanding of both communication technologies and power systems. Our group aims to develop protocols and optimization tools to realize a "smarter" grid. Our current research interest include: distributed control of information in microgirds, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system, demand and response system, big data analysis, and security and privacy.
