We devote this page to interesting graph visualizations using Combinatorica, an environment for explorations in graph theory and discrete mathematics codeveloped by Sriram Pemmaraju and Steven Skiena. It is best described in our book:
Computational Discrete Mathematics: Combinatorics and Graph Theory with Mathematica, Cambridge University Press, 2003.
The official home of Combinatorica on the web is www.combinatorica.com.
These animations by Jeffrey Nickerson of the Stevens Institute of Technology use Combinatorica to simulate a strategy for mobile ad hoc network units to reconvene at a rally point after losing communication. The right animation shows the same group converging on 4 rally points instead of one; the convergence is twice as fast.
