Wireless and Mobile Networking

Pre-requisite:

CSE 310, Data Communication and Networks (or an equivalent course). Review materials from CSE 310: CSMA/CD, Ethernet LAN, Routing protocols, IP, TCP.

Introductory topics (0.5 week)

Characteristics of Wireless Transmissions (2 weeks)

Medium Access Control (MAC) (2 weeks)

Wireless LAN and PAN (2 weeks)

Mobile Infrastructure-based Networking (2 weeks)

Ad Hoc Networking ( 2 weeks)

Mobile Transport Layer (1.5 week)

Cellular Network Fundamentals (2 weeks)

Various Testbed Demonstrations (1 week)

Grading:

Midterm: 20%, Final: 30%, Homeworks: 50% (expect 6-7 problem sets, some will include simulation or testbed experiments).
