Enjoying
'fruit de saison' - basically just a plate of unpeeled fruit, straight
from the crate. Then we realized that it was almost New Year's Eve. We recalled someone telling us that there was a nice hotel on top of the hill, by the Merenid tombs. In fact, we remembered this in the midst of a cab ride back to our hotel in the Medina. So we took a detour to see if they had a New Year's Eve party (since the moslems don't celebrate this, apparently). All of a sudden our cab driver wanted to be our 'guide for the evening', pulling into the gated hotel parking lot with his small rusty Fiat. His dreams came to an abrupt halt, when the hotel personnel chased him away. We ended up making reservation to a '1001 nights' show next door. We were very curious what that was going to be. We went back to our hotel to change, full of expectations. See here what followed. |
