About Stony Brook University

Close by the picturesque, historic villages of Stony Brook and Port Jefferson at the geographic midpoint of New York's Long Island, Stony Brook University is located on the north shore of Long Island. It is only a short distance to New York City (about 55 miles east of Manhattan), the beautiful beaches at Fire Island, the elegant resorts of the Hamptons, and the vineyards of the East End. The internationally recognized research facilities of Brookhaven National Laboratory and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory are nearby. Stony Brook can be easily accessed via New York's major international airports (JFK Airport and LaGuardia Airport are only 45 miles from Stony Brook) and Long Island's MacArthur Airport. Conference attendees can also travel to Stony Brook University from New York City via the Long Island Rail Road.
