Work and Research Experiences

Stony Brook University, Computer Science Department

Research Assistant

  • Designed and developped Texture Visualizer, an software with supporting libraries to exploit the fragment processor of the modern GPUs to accelerate graphics (eg. volume rendering) and  non-graphics applications (e.g.. flow simulation). Basis of my PhD dissertation.

  • Worked on physics-based simulation of natural phenomenon accelerated on graphics hardware.

  • Developped Win-Volvis 3.0, a comprehensive Volume Visualization Package for Windows. Long Island Software Award (LISA) 2000 winner nominee

  • Developped Cost Effective Virtual Colonoscopy on a PC, Long Island Software Award (LISA) 2000 winner.

Siemens Corporate Research (Princeton, NJ).

Summer Intern

  • Developed the visualization module for a product of Stereotaxis, including the functionality of volume rendering, MPR,

  • Developed a registration prototype for BioSense Webster.

Viatronix, Inc. (Stony Brook, NY).

Senior Intern

  • Worked as system designer and main developer of V3D-Calcium Scoring and V3D-Explorer. Invented techniques to accelerate texture-based volume rendering (Patent pending).

  • Involved in V3D-Colon, a technology transfer of research work on virtual colonoscopy of Stony Brook University.

Stellar Services (New York, NY)

  • Designed and developped the Manpower Management System for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, used for manpower data visualization and projection for drug testing.

eCommerce Technology Inc. (Cupertino, CA)

Summer Intern

  • Initiated and developped Photo3DPlayer 1.0, an ActiveX plug-in to display 3D object  photorealisticly using  image-based rendering. It is the ancestor of Net3D Player 2.0 of eCommerce Technology Inc.

Buton Information Inc (Xi'an, China)

  • Developped the Office Automation System for the Second Color Tube Plant of Shaanxi Province.

  • Developped the General Exam Paper Generating System.

Xi'an Jiaotong University, Institute of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (Xi'an, China)

Research Asistant, Lecturer

  • Worked as the system designer & principal developered of the Simulation System of  Railway Scheduling, for the North Station of Zhengzhou, China, the largest railway scheduling station in Asia.

  • Involved in the development of the Auto Shape Recognition System for highway and bridge toll booth.

  • Developped WMesa 2.3, the Windows version of Mesa, an OpenGL like GUI.
