Markus Lacay Graduate CS Program, Graduated 2010
I started out as a Nassau Community College Graduate who transfered over to SBU after achieving a 2 year A.S. Degree in Computer Science. I put myself through school at SBU by working as a Computer Science T.A. in the Lab at NCC. I love programming, technology and puzzles. In order to design games for a living, I knew that I needed to get the most out of my education by studying at one of the best Computer Science facilities in the country. The research opportunities are only bounded by your imagination and willingness to put in the hard work. By all accounts, the professors seemed very receptive to even the most ambitious ideas and focused more on how to make it happen. Many of the people at AVI are Stony Brook Alumni so working together as a team is already second nature.

Tript Singh Lamba Graduate CS Program, Graduated 2004
I am a Senior Program Manager with Microsoft Corporation, and work in the Windows Phone division. My team is responsible for the massively scalable services like location, Push and network optimizations in mobile broadband consumption for the Windows Phone.
I came to Stony Brook after earning an undergraduate degree in computer engineering from India. While pursuing my MS degree at the Computer Science Department, I interned for a major Wall Street firm and consulted for a few startups. Getting my MS at Stony Brook was the trigger to accelerating my growth as a technologist. While at Stony Brook, I not only went deeper into core Computer Science principles which I still use frequently today, I also developed a better work ethic, team work while learning to have fun along the journey of solving tough problems. After graduation, I have returned almost every year to the Stony Brook campus to recruit top notch talent for Microsoft. I would recommend the CS programs to anyone interested in academic rigor and practical thoroughness in a heartbeat.

Graduate CS Program, Graduated 2008
I decided to come to Stony Brook because of the exceptional faculty, programming intensive courses, proven placement and overall good value for money. The best part was to get to study and learn with extremely bright and motivated individuals which helped me challenge my frontiers. Also liked the social interaction with students from various different countries and backgrounds, including my own. I currently work as a Software Developer at Bloomberg L.P. My current project deals with storing, calculating and searching vast quantity of financial data in realtime to feed our Equity Listed Derivatives Suite of applications.

Tom Welsh Graduate CS Program, Graduated 2002
I was interested in medical imaging and Stony Brook has a good program. I enjoyed working with some great professors. I am a product architect for Alien Skin Software. We make software for graphic artists and photographers. I still read research papers but figuring out how to make an algorithm work in commercial software is often a very different challenge. There are a lot things to learn once outside of academia but that time at Stony Brook provided a foundation that still comes in all the time at work. When you are trying to produce software commercially you don't have time to spend weeks studying math so both the classwork and time spent doing research in graduate school was important for what I do today.

Michael Steinberg Graduate CS Program, Graduated 2002
As a three-time graduate of Stony Brook University, I'm proud to say that my experiences and education at Stony Brook had a significant impact on where I am today. In particular, working through the rigorous computer science graduate curriculum aptly prepared my skills for industry.
I presently live in New York City, where I am the Vice President of Marketing at a construction management consulting firm that provides project/program management services, technology consulting, and custom software solutions for large-scale infrastructure construction projects across the country and internationally.

Prior to joining PACO, I was a lead technology consultant and proposal manager at Northrop Grumman, Inc., where I lead billion dollar proposal engagements for state and federal agency procurements, and served as a technical project manager during new project start-ups. I hold a JD in law from Brooklyn Law School; an MS in computer science from Stony Brook University; an MS in environmental science from Stony Brook University; and a BS in biology from Stony Brook University; and am a member of the New York State Bar Association
